Offshore Betting Industry
The offshore betting industry, which is comprised of
companies both large and small, depends upon small island countries
in the Caribbean and Central America to operate their online
gambling casinos.
These offshore gambling sites are run in countries such as Antigua & Barbuda,
Costa Rica, Curacao, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Panama,
just to name a few. These sovereign nations allow online casinos to
operate under their legal system, just like any other normal
business operation. The online casinos must comply with the local
laws under which they registered, they also must comply with local auditing measures in those places.
Offshore gambling is under fire right now by the United States government who has lost a case brought upon
them in the WTO by Antigua who claimed the UIGEA violated trade agreements.
